Vista Codec Pack: Never Install a Codec or Filter Again

Over the years I have gotten really fed up with trying codec packs that never worked seamlessly allowing me to play any audio or video files that I want without having to install some sort of video/audio player that came with it. Well one great thing about the Vista Codec pack is that it is just a suite of codecs that allows you to use any video or audio player you currently have installed even media player.

Issues fixed with the final version 5.01

- Vista Codec Package 5.0.1 fixes an issue with registering the ogg codecs on some systems.
- added several new configuration shortcuts
- updated Gabest filters rev 866
- updated installer icon/graphics/logo
- added Cyberlink MPEG2 codec for DVD playback
- added support for E-AC3 and Dolby TrueHD audio
- added speex audiobook playback support
- added H264 DXVA support /shortcuts
- minor revisions (undocument)
- fixed RealPlayer website access for all browsers
- updated ffdshow rev 2301

According to the developer, “The installer will automatically remove most other popular codec releases from your computer before installing this concise yet comprehensive package. You won’t need to make any adjustments or tweaks to enjoy your media content immediately. Windows Media Player and Vista’s Media Center will instantly recognize all your files as playable.”

I hope you enjoy this package, let me know if it works out for you.

I was having difficulty even with this. After some searching around I tried out GOM players, which was developed in Korea apparently. Basically it’s really good at detecting what a file needs, and auto downloading the codec.
