How to download Youtube videos without any Third party software.

Most of the time when you are trying to download videos from youtube either you have to use a third party software or you have to post the link to auto-download site which will download and convert it for you. The problem with these kind of software or third party sites are that they don’t always work if a video is flagged by google for adult content or for whatever reason.

Today we will download Flv format videos from youtube with a simple javascript.

First we will goto youtube and choose a video to play. I chose this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUX3CM1TMeY

It’s a video of Trinity using Nmap in Matrix Reloaded. While playing the video we we will add this site in to out favourites and we will edit the favourites properties with this javascript:

javascript:window.open(’http://youtube.com/get_video?video_id=’+window.location.href.split(’?')[1].match(/v=([^(\&|$)]*)/)[1]+’&t=’+document.getElementById(’movie_player’).src.match(/t=([^(\&|$)]*)/)[1]);

After That all we have to do is that while still staying in that site, execute the javascript by staying on that page, and Flv format video should be downloading any minute.

You can play this video with Free Media players like “Windows Classic Media” or VLC player.

For me it only worked with firefox and Safari. Original javascript came from hackszine.com .
